Israel Experience

1983

"The Israel Experience", a multimedia show in Jaffa. Throughout its 60 minutes it attempted to transfer the viewer through the history, essence, landscapes, characters and emotions of and in the State of Israel. In the show, sixty slide projectors and three film projectors were used, with added effects, such as smoke clouds, rain drops and others. This was all timed to the second and activated by a computer. The music played a very important role and was, in essence, the skeleton behind this enormous construction. Each changing slide and change in atmosphere, rhythm, place or color was underlined by the music, and the timing was crucial.
The music was performed by 50 players and was recorded on a multi-channel track, using also elements of electronic and synthesizers music.
The work was later arranged as an orchestral suite and performed at a special concert with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by the composer.
